Houghton Hams Sausages
We are very happy to announce that we are now producing our own Sausages!
We have been trialling and testing these products for months now to get them just right, and we are very happy with our final products. We have developed two varieties of sausages, a Cumberland and a Caremilised Red Onion. Both types of Sausages are produced from cuts of prime British Pork, from farms who are part of The Red Tractor Welfare Assurance Scheme.

The Great Yorkshire Show
This year Nigel visited The Great Yorkshire Show, which took place in Harrogate.
This included livestock parades, show jumping, food demos, and a variation of stools. It was also a great opportunity to catch up with some of our farmers that we are currently working with to produce our Grosvenor range of pig. One of our farmers happened to be competing in the pig ring with two pigs from our Grosvenor family which received reserve champions.

Winners Of The Small Processing Business of the Year!
The Meat and Poultry Processing Awards took place at the Radisson Blu Edwardian Hotel in Manchester, on Thursday 21 March 2013
We won our Category for The Small Processing Business of The Year
Nigel said: “It was a real honour to be up on stage but it is the Houghton Hams team that is behind this success, not just me. This is for everyone and I am delighted to be able to take this back to Northampton.
“I don’t think money could buy the award. Companies can now look at us with a different perception of what we can achieve for them as a supplier. Within the industry, it’s a great award for us to win. We’ll savour it and enjoy the year”.
All the team were really pleased with the result and enjoyed the night! Here are a few of our photos from the evening….

Our new organic lines 2012
These organic hams are reared from exclusively selected British farms. This succulent ham is cured by hand and left to mature to develop its full and unique flavour. The meat is then cooked to offer a richly flavoured product.
We strongly support the organic system of natural farming which prohibits the use of GM materials, supported by the very highest standards of animal welfare.

Houghton Hams on the BBC’s Great British Food Revival
Michelin starred chef Tom Kerridge, loves his ham. For centuries, every village would have its own ham curer, and he was desperate to meet up with Houghton Hams to find out how their traditional Wagstaff cure receipe has produced some of the finest british ham purchased on the high street today.

A day at the races
OAKLEY POINT TO POINT RACES 2012
THE HOUGHTON HAMS MENS OPEN RACE
This was our first year sponsoring a race at the Oakley point to point at Brafield on the green, despite going for many years previously. We were lucky, as it was a lovely sunny day, and we were joined by many of our customers as well as family and friends too. Nigel also presented the Peter Middleton Perpetual silver cup this year to winner T Weston and his horse Cedrus Librani. It was a great success and a really enjoyable day out, hopefully this will be something we will look to do again in the future. Here are a few pictures from the day…..
