Unfortunately the blog posts have not been updated due to a very busy schedule, so we are finally catching up and showing off all the exciting events we have been involved in of late. To name one, on the 19th of February we all headed to London to Visit Cyrus Todiwala for his Greedy Pigs Evening.
As a family and as a business we have actively organized and donated to many charity events over the years, and this year was no different as we decided to get involved in the Largest coffee morning for Macmillan. We really do have some excellent bakers here at Houghton Hams, so we had a gorgeous selection of cakes and treats from all different members of staff and departments.
With the launch of our healthier reduced salt range, we opened Henrys corner. We have received some wonderful entries from many different boys and girls all over the country. So here are a few of our favourites. We will be announcing a winner from our August entries at the end of the month. Keep them coming in!
I have been cooking today in preparation for Easter, experimenting with various recipes to cook and glaze gammons. I found one from the BBC Good Food website, which included Coke and maple syrup which looked interesting and became my favourite of all the recipes I tried and tested! Last week we attended Lords Cricket ground for the Health and Vitality Awards. We were 1 of 3 selected finalists for our ongoing work with reduced salt hams. We were against some big names, such as Coca cola and Nestle, for the award of Responsible Manufacturing Honours, however we took first place!
