Our Finely Sliced Deli Style Ham is on shelves in Aldi stores across England, Scotland and Wales.
It’s the second ham we’ve made for Aldi, and sits alongside the Deli Style Ham that launched in 2025. Both are part of the Specially Selected range. Made from British Red Tractor pork, Houghton Ham’s Finely Sliced Deli Style ham is cured and cooked at our HQ in Northampton, then sliced and ruffled into a 10-slice pack.
Why Aldi chose Houghton Hams’ finely sliced ham
The idea came from the traditional delicatessen. Our original Deli Style Ham was built around thick cut, the way ham gets carved in front of you at a deli counter, and it’s the ham to reach for if you want a proper doorstep sandwich.
Finely sliced does a different job. It’s ruffled rather than stacked so it folds into a sandwich or a wrap and sits better in a lunchbox, which is where a lot of ham ends up on a weekday morning.
It’s our traditional cure, cooked the same way, but a different slice of ham.
Eighteen months from first conversation to shelf
Development started a year and a half before the first pack reached a store. That covered the recipe work, trials on our slicing and packing lines, shelf-life testing, and the launch plan agreed with Aldi’s buying team. We rolled out a successful national launch which means every store received stock, on day one, at the volume Aldi planned for.
Who makes the Deli Style Ham in Aldi?
Houghton Hams is proud to supply Aldi’s deli style ham. We have been producing cooked ham, gammon and bacon in Northampton since 1983, when Nigel and Jo Wagstaff started the business with Nigel’s redundancy money and a bank loan. Houghton Hams is still owned and run by the family, and all four of the Wagstaff children work here.
Both the Deli Style Ham and the Finely Sliced Deli Style Ham are made at our site in Moulton Park, a short walk from where the business began.
Where to find Houghton Ham’s Deli Style Ham
The Finely Sliced Deli Style Ham is in the chilled aisle at Aldi now, next to the Deli Style Ham that got there first.
There’s plenty more of ours out there under our own name, including the Wagstaff family recipe ham, the gammon and the dry cured bacon. Our stockist finder will show you who’s selling them near you.
