Description
Music has always been my doorway back. I started with a list of 50 songs that had shaped my life, going back to the 60s and right up to the present day.
Some were a big part of me growing up. Others take me back to the early days with Jo, or the years when the kids were small.
We all have songs like that, where you hear one and remember exactly what you were doing at the time.
Out of the 50, there were 20 we felt we should do something with.
We recorded them at a studio on Foundry Street, right in the centre of Northampton, with Greg Coulson. I went in for a chat and got really lucky, because Greg is an exceptional talent.
He understood what I was trying to do from the start. He took my voice and my ideas and created the rest, playing it on the piano first, then building up whole tracks around it until there was a complete band behind me.
It’s a nice balance of songs, all different, with some unique touches on a few classics, including Can’t Buy Me Love, House of the Rising Sun, Rainy Night in Soho and You Never Can Tell.
The vinyl has 16 tracks, and I hope it earns a spot alongside the rest of your collection.
